        Pond renovation at Proksa Park in Berwyn, Illinois! Why am I standing in an empty pond? 😂

This park pond has been neglected for years, so we’re draining it, removing thick sediment, rescuing turtles and other wildlife, and rebuilding the entire system from the ground up.

So far, we’ve pulled out 127 frisbee golf discs… yes, more discs than turtles 😅

We rescued several painted turtles, including one with some amazing red markings, and moved them into temporary tubs with basking logs while we work. We’re also installing a brand new skimmer system, high-efficiency pumps, and a massive constructed wetland filter to help bring this pond back to life.

On top of that, we’re removing the old fountain and building a 10,000-gallon underground reservoir with a brand new recirculating fountain above it.

This is going to become a beautiful, thriving feature for the park again. Stay tuned for the full transformation vlog coming soon.

Early spring in the Chicago area means cold water, active turtles, and a lot of work ahead 🔥
